How ThinkHumanly works

A 4-step process designed by people who care about child development as much as you do. Built on decades of research, applied with care.

01

You answer 14 questions

Behaviorally-anchored questions a thoughtful teacher might ask. Things like ‘When something doesn’t come easily, what does your child usually do?’ Each question is grounded in established child psychology literature — Diamond’s Executive Function model, CASEL competencies, Self-Determination Theory.

02

Your child does an optional 10-min activity

A four-part interactive experience — a branching story scenario, pattern puzzles, a design micro-challenge, and a preference sorter. We capture choices and time-on-task; never voice, video, or biometrics. The activity adds corroborating signal, but your parent intake is the primary input — meaning the profile still works if your child skips.

03

We build a Learning Profile

Seven dimensions: Curiosity, Self-Direction, Collaboration, Communication, Resilience, Creative Problem-Solving, and engagement preference. These are framed as tendencies and preferences — not abilities or diagnoses. We deliberately avoid ‘learning styles’ matching because the literature (Pashler 2008 and follow-ups) shows it doesn’t replicate.

04

We match to personalized activities

Physical workbooks, hands-on kits, and digital activities — your choice of ratio. Each activity is designed by our educators and tagged with the dimensions it develops. Profile updates monthly or quarterly based on plan; activities re-personalize as your child grows.

What we're built on

Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development. Self-Determination Theory (Ryan & Deci). Diamond's Executive Function. CASEL 5 competencies. Csikszentmihalyi's flow. Bloom's revised taxonomy. Active learning research (Freeman 2014 PNAS, +0.47 SD effect size). Project-based learning (Chen & Yang 2019, d+=0.71).

Lines we draw

A short list of things we deliberately exclude from this platform, for safety, ethics, and methodological honesty:

  • · Voice recording or analysis
  • · Biometric or facial data
  • · ‘Learning styles’ matching (not replicated in research)
  • · Cognitive ability or IQ claims
  • · Diagnosis of learning disabilities
  • · Selling your data
